President commended the Mayors for the successful outcomes of the 5th Mayors General Meeting

Bairiki, Tarawa, 16th December 2020——Kiribati’s Head of State, His Excellency Beretitenti Taneti Maamau congratulated the newly elected Mayors and thanked them for the successful 5th Mayors General Meeting held in Maiana last week.

At the State Reception hosted earlier this week (Monday, 12th December 2020), H.E President Maamau thanked the Old Men Association of Maiana, Te Bau ni Maiana together with the Mayor, Councilors, and the people of Maiana for hosting of the 5th Mayors General Meeting.

“Despite heavy commitments for the island including hosting a large gathering for the ordination of a Catholic priest just a few weeks earlier, the people of Maiana managed to successfully hold another big event, the 5th Mayors General Meeting” said Beretitenti Maamau.

Working together to discuss a common goal for the benefits of all people in Kiribati demonstrated teamwork and keen effort needed to support the accomplishment of the Government’s long-term vision known as Kiribati for 20 years (KV20). Such collaboration is instrumental in transforming the whole of Kiribati into a wealthier, healthier, and peaceful country.

President Maamau also commended the donations received from the Private Sector together with the continuous supports from our Development Partners and Non-Government Organizations which contributed to the success of the general meeting.
